The Gig
We are looking for a skilled System Engineer to join our IT Support team. You will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and improving the organisation's IT infrastructure, ensuring systems remain secure, reliable, and available to support day-to-day business operations.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues, implement infrastructure improvements, and provide technical support across servers, endpoints, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications.
What You'll Be Doing
- Install, configure, monitor, and maintain Windows and Linux servers.
- Manage Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Group Policies, and user administration.
- Administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
- Support endpoint management using Microsoft Intune or similar device management platforms.
- Monitor system performance and ensure infrastructure availability.
- Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, software, and network-related issues.
- Configure and maintain virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Manage backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
- Support LAN, WAN, VPN, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP, and firewall infrastructure.
- Implement system updates, patches, and security configurations.
- Maintain IT asset inventory, documentation, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with Cyber Security teams to ensure compliance with organisational security standards.
- Participate in infrastructure projects, upgrades, and technology implementations.
- Provide Level 2/Level 3 technical support and participate in on-call support when required.
About You
- 2-5 years of experience in System Administration, Infrastructure Support, or IT Operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Azure Active Directory.
- Experience managing endpoint devices using Microsoft Intune or equivalent MDM solutions.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, and firewalls.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Basic understanding of Azure cloud infrastructure is desirable.
- Experience using ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, or similar platforms. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple incidents simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Willingness to support business operations outside standard hours when required.
