Overview

Synaptics is looking for a Sr. Digital Design Engineer to join our dynamic and growing EECD organization. You will be responsible for the WLAN PHY architecture/design/implementation of Wi-Fi 7/8 chips for the IOT market. Primary responsibility would be to drive Synaptics Wi-Fi PHY Architecture for all market tiers, covering features and scalability, keeping in mind power consumption and cost of the product. Responsibilities will include coordinating with multiple teams on specifications, design deliverables, handoff, verification, and timing closure. This role will work closely with Systems/RF/Analog/SW/Validation teams for productizing WLAN/BT combo chips for home IOT and automotive markets. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Digital Engineering, Bluetooth.

Responsibilities & Competencies

  • Job Duties
  • Own WLAN PHY sub-blocks all the way from micro architecture to productization
  • Define WLAN PHY micro architecture from the standards and/or requirement documents
  • Perform digital design, RTL implementation, Lint, CDC checks, timing closure, verification and coverage closure, ECO implementation and chip productization debug
  • Work with Systems team in performance analysis and propose IP enhancements to achieve better PPA
  • Complete designs on time that meet all design specifications
  • Competencies
  • Comprehensive understanding of digital design and wireless technology fundamentals with the ability to assess unusual circumstances
  • Strong Digital design and Wireless technology fundamentals
  • Solid understanding of Wireless Communication, Digital Communication, Communication Theory, Digital Signal Processing
  • Knowledge in Lint, CDC, timing constraints, synthesis, power analysis
  • Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
  • Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
  • Resourceful and able to solve complex problems through practical use of technology and a solid understanding of product architecture
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, in English; able to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly
  • Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse cross-functional team
  • Qualifications (Requirements)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Communication Engineering or related field or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in the design and delivery of IPs
  • Solid track record of working on the complete product cycle – Defining Systems/Product requirements, architecture, design, verification, ASIC closure, Tapeout, Silicon bringup, productization and customer support
  • Experience collaborating across functions to define and implement world class competitive products
  • Solid understanding of digital IC design flow (design, verification, synthesis, HW/SW co-working)
  • No travel required
