Shift Operations Engineer (O&M- Mechanical)

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliable, safe and efficient operation of all generating units, auxiliaries, and balance of Plant systems.
• Supports mechanical maintenance section head in ensuring full compliance with Statutory HSS, environmental and technical requirements from central and state governmental bodies (i.e. CEA, CERC, DSA, SCEI, AP/CPCB etc. compliances).
• Responsible for PTW, LOTO, isolations, HIRA, TBT, JSA for assigned areas.
• Maintains drainage and dewatering system, firefighting system, HVAC system, oil handling units, hydro mechanical systems and other BOP mechanical equipment at acceptable standards, aiming at zero breakdown.
• Preparation and implementation of SOPs, SMPS and testing procedures for assigned systems.
• Preparation and implementation of assigned maintenance reports and checklists for assigned systems, including daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and checklists. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, testing results, and Plant drawings etc.
• Perform preventive, predictive, condition-based maintenance on assigned mechanical systems.
• Ensure timely calibration/testing of Plant measuring instruments, lifting equipment, pressure vessels, hydro mechanical and other BOP mechanical equipment etc.
• Lead equipment failure investigations and analysis for assigned mechanical systems, establish RCA framework and implement performance monitoring, corrective actions and continuous improvement methodology.
• Preparation of service contract and contract management for assigned mechanical maintenance works, outsourced to external service providers.
• Maintains critical spares inventory for assigned mechanical systems, to meet the exigencies.
• Inspect Plant mechanical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for repairs, including annual maintenance for under water parts.
• Support mechanical maintenance section head in Plant improvement projects and modernization initiatives.
• To devise appropriate PM schedules for assigned mechanical equipment as per OEM recommendations/maintenance plan and ensure proper implementation.
• IMS implementation, documentation preparation and updating, pertaining to your area.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the mechanical Section Head, from time to time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in the shift operations within hydropower generations sector or pump storage plants.
• Maintenance experience of large-scale hydropower plant or pump storage plant.
• Advanced certifications in operations management or power generation technologies are preferred
