Production Engineer / Coordinator

The Production Engineer/Coordinator will be responsible for leading and coordinating shop floor production activities to achieve production targets, ensure on-time delivery, maintain product quality, and drive continuous improvement. The role involves managing manpower, machines, materials, safety, and operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with quality and HSE standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage day-to-day production operations to achieve production plans and KPIs.
• Monitor production processes and equipment performance to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate production, processing, and distribution activities on the shop floor.
• Plan shift schedules and allocate manpower effectively.
• Supervise fabric filter cloth manufacturing operations, including laser cutting, programming, and sewing activities.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and identification of WIP materials.
• Maintain availability of utilities such as air, power, and water for uninterrupted production.
• Support packaging and shipping activities whenever required.
• Review drawings and fabric cut-piece profiles before production.
• Guide sewing operators on machine setup and process parameters.
• Conduct in-process quality inspections and fitment checks.
• Drive productivity improvements and minimize defects, rework, and rejections.
• Train and mentor permanent and contract employees.
• Prepare daily, shift-wise, and monthly production reports and MIS.
• Perform SAP/ERP production order confirmations and routing entries.
• Coordinate inventory management activities with Stores.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and 5S practices across the shop floor.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
• Support internal and external audits through documentation and process compliance.
• Drive Lean, Kaizen, cost-saving, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Knowledge

• 6 to 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment as a Production Engineer/Coordinator
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Textile Engineering.
• Production planning and shop floor management.
• Industrial sewing machine operations and process knowledge.
• Drawing reading and basic GD&T interpretation.
• Quality inspection and process control.
• SAP PP module knowledge.
• ERP transaction and production reporting experience.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles.
• Knowledge of HSE and Quality Management Systems.
• Inventory and WIP management.
• MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• ERP/SAP systems.

Preferred Experience & Knowledge

• Experience in filter fabric, technical textile, or related manufacturing industries.
• Exposure to production equipment management and process optimization.
• Experience leading production teams and driving operational excellence.
• ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
• Waste management practices.
• Technical textiles or filter fabric manufacturing processes.
