Purchases are made on familiarity rather than comparison, and nobody can say whether the company paid a fair price. Buying covers raw material, tooling and outside processing, with cost pressure passed down from the OEMs.

An auto-components supplier to two of the large domestic OEMs, hiring for its purchasing team. Two large customers set the pace, and delivery schedules leave little room for surprises. Flexiple is a managed talent marketplace that places vetted professionals with companies in India and abroad. The role is based in Pune or Chennai (on-site).

The specialist sources suppliers, negotiates terms and keeps purchases flowing on time and at a price the business can defend. You would be sourcing suppliers, running quotations and negotiating orders for the categories assigned. The brief is wider than the title suggests, and the first few weeks are about learning how things currently work before changing them.

What we are looking for

• 3 to 7 years in procurement or vendor management
• Graduate degree; engineering or commerce background preferred
• Experience in procurement, sourcing or purchasing
• Good negotiation and cost-analysis skills
• Comfort with ERP purchase modules and Excel
