Job Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Architect to define and evolve scalable, secure, reliable software solutions across Majesco’s product ecosystem. This role combines architecture, software development, technical leadership, and delivery ownership.

The ideal candidate is pragmatic, curious, and comfortable working across technologies. They can bring clarity to ambiguous problems, make sound decisions through both functional and non-functional lenses, and lead initiatives from idea to production and beyond.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Define solution and software architecture aligned with product goals, engineering standards, and long-term maintainability.
• Translate ambiguous business or technical problems into clear options, recommendations, decisions, and executable plans.
• Lead initiatives independently by establishing logical milestones, dependencies, risks, owners, and realistic delivery plans.
• Take ideas through exploration, proof of concept, implementation, production readiness, and post-production improvement.
• Stay hands-on and contribute code, prototypes, technical spikes, reviews, and troubleshooting when required.
• Evaluate solutions against non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, availability, security, observability, maintainability, and operability.
• Collaborate effectively with product management, development, QA, DevOps, security, support, and other cross-functional teams.
• Communicate architecture, trade-offs, progress, risks, and decisions clearly to engineering teams and senior management.
• Proactively gather information, identify unknowns, connect relevant clues, and move work forward with limited supervision.
• Create and maintain architecture decisions, design documents, diagrams, technical plans, and implementation guidance.
• Mentor engineers and help teams adopt sound design principles, coding practices, and engineering standards.
• Share timely, concise, and proactive updates on initiative and program progress.

Core technical requirements

• Hands-on experience with Java and the Spring Framework.
• Strong experience with Oracle Database, including SQL, schema design, query analysis, and performance considerations.
• Experience designing and delivering production-grade enterprise software systems.
• Good understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, APIs, distributed systems, and integration approaches.
• Ability to work across technologies and select the right approach for the problem instead of being tied to a specific technology stack.
• Working knowledge of software quality attributes and how to validate them through design, testing, monitoring, and operational practices.
• Ability to investigate complex technical issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive durable corrective actions.
• Willingness and ability to code when the situation requires it.
• Working knowledge of AI-assisted tools for day-to-day software development, research, coding, testing, documentation, or troubleshooting, with appropriate engineering judgment and security awareness.

Experience and qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in an Architecture role.
• 7–10 years of software development experience, preferably in enterprise product development.
• Demonstrated experience taking software systems to production and handling post-production challenges such as performance issues, reliability incidents, defects, supportability, and incremental modernization.
• Experience independently leading a technical initiative or a significant workstream from discovery through delivery.
• Excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to represent technical initiatives and provide clear updates to senior and executive-level stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with product-based software development and product lifecycle practices.
• Experience with cloud platforms, containerization, CI/CD, observability, and modern DevOps practices.
• Exposure to microservices, event-driven architecture, messaging, or distributed systems.
• Experience with performance engineering, resiliency, security, and production operations.
• Experience in the insurance or another complex domain with configurable enterprise products.
• Familiarity with architecture documentation standards, proof-of-concept development, and technology evaluation.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across teams.
