Lead Designer - SPPID

Lead Designer with strong hands-on SPPID experience to lead and execute P&ID design activities for medium to large projects. The candidate should be capable of managing a project scale of approximately 300 P&IDs, coordinating with engineering disciplines, TPA, and contract designers, and ensuring timely and quality delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the creation, modification, and maintenance of intelligent P&IDs using SPPID.
• Manage SPPID design activities for projects with approximately 300 P&IDs, including planning, execution, progress tracking, and delivery.
• Maintain accurate equipment, piping, valves, instruments, tags, line numbers, connectivity, and associated engineering data.
• Perform Drafting and quality checks to ensure compliance with project standards and engineering requirements.
• Coordinate and work effectively with TPA and contract Draftingers, including reviewing their work, providing guidance, and monitoring quality and progress.
• Identify Drafting and data inconsistencies and coordinate with relevant stakeholders for resolution.
• Support SPPID data extraction and downstream engineering deliverables.
• Identify project risks related to P&ID Drafting and delivery and escalate them appropriately.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on knowledge and practical experience in SPPID usage.
• Good understanding of P&ID and PFD engineering and drafting practices.
• Good understanding of equipment, piping, valves, instrumentation, tagging, line numbering, and connectivity.
• Good understanding of intelligent P&ID data and its relationship with downstream engineering deliverables.
• Good knowledge of P&ID checking, revision management, and engineering change incorporation.
• Working knowledge of the SPPID Power User role and its functionality.
• Good working knowledge of MS Excel for engineering data review and reporting.
• Ability to understand and work with the Tool Compatibility Matrix and assess potential impacts of SPPID changes on downstream tools and deliverables.

• Independently lead SPPID activities for a project of approximately 300 P&IDs.
• Plan and prioritize work according to project milestones.
• Coordinate effectively with TPA and contract Draftingers working within the project team.
• Review and provide technical feedback on third-party and contract Drafting deliverables.
• Monitor quality, progress, and timely completion of assigned work.
• Ensure consistent Drafting practices across the complete P&ID package.
• Identify schedule, quality, and technical risks at an early stage and coordinate appropriate actions.

• Preferred Experience
• Experience in EPC/EPCM, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical, Industrial Gas, or similar engineering projects.
• Experience handling large P&ID packages.
• Experience working with TPA/third-party engineering agencies and contract Draftingers.
• Exposure to downstream engineering data and deliverables generated from SPPID.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Education

ITI/Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, or a related engineering discipline is preferred.
