About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented HR Payroll Professional to join our dynamic team at Kyndryl India. In this role, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution. Your expertise will be critical in coordinating with third-party payroll vendors and internal stakeholders to maintain seamless payroll operations. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of Japan payroll processing, including social insurance, labor insurance, and resident tax management, along with proficiency in Japanese language and local employment laws. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead payroll system implementations and upgrades, contributing to the continuous improvement of our payroll technology landscape. As a key player in our HR team, you will also support offboarding procedures, ensuring a smooth transition for departing employees while upholding compliance standards and company policies.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of comprehensive HR payroll experience, with a strong emphasis on Japan payroll processing for 3 to 5 years. You should demonstrate a deep understanding of payroll and accounting processes, along with proficiency in payroll software and MS Office Suite. Excellent communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to collaborate effectively with management and cross-functional teams are essential. Candidates must possess a solid understanding of employment laws, regulatory compliance, and legal requirements specific to Japan. Proficiency in Japanese language at JLPT N2 or N1 level, both written and verbal, is mandatory to facilitate seamless communication with Japan-based HR stakeholders. A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred, along with prior experience in similar roles and knowledge of other HR functions such as Compensation, Benefits, and Talent Acquisition.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for Japan, including Social Insurance (Shakai Hoken), Labor Insurance, and Resident Tax (Jūminzei), ensuring accuracy and compliance with local regulations.
  • Coordinate with third-party payroll vendors to ensure seamless integration and timely payroll execution.
  • Interpret and apply company pay policies, managing complex calculations related to vacation days, leaves of absence, disability, workers' compensation, and union contracts.
  • Stay updated with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, ensuring ongoing compliance and implementing necessary updates.
  • Lead and support payroll system implementations, upgrades, and troubleshooting to optimize payroll technology and processes.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to resolve payroll discrepancies, audit payroll data, and generate reports for management review.
  • Assist in the offboarding process, working with employees, labor unions, and internal teams to ensure smooth transitions and proper documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll data, adhering to data protection policies and legal standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to HR and management on payroll-related inquiries and issues.
