Job Description

Embedded Architect

13 – 20 Years Experience.

We are looking for an experienced Embedded Architect with strong expertise in C++, Embedded Systems, and RTOS to define and drive the architecture of complex embedded products. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing real-time embedded software, developing scalable architectures, and leading technical decisions across firmware and embedded software teams. You will work closely with engineering, product, hardware, and systems teams to translate product requirements into robust, reliable, and high-performance embedded solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the software architecture and technical roadmap for complex embedded systems.
• Design scalable, modular, and reusable embedded software architectures.
• Develop and review embedded software using modern C++.
• Design and implement real-time systems using RTOS such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, QNX, VxWorks, or similar.
• Define task/thread architecture, scheduling, inter-task communication, synchronization, memory management, and interrupt handling.
• Drive architectural decisions related to performance, latency, reliability, scalability, and resource utilization.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, systems, and product engineering teams on end-to-end product architecture.
• Establish coding standards, design patterns, development methodologies, and best practices.
• Review architecture, design documents, source code, and technical implementations.
• Mentor senior engineers and technical leads and provide technical direction to embedded development teams.
• Troubleshoot complex system-level issues involving concurrency, timing, memory, hardware/software interfaces, and real-time performance.
• Drive technical investigations, proof-of-concepts, and evaluation of new embedded technologies.
• Support product development through design, development, integration, testing, and production.
• Ensure compliance with relevant embedded software quality, safety, and security standards where applicable.
• Programming
• Strong proficiency in C and C++.
• Excellent understanding of modern C++ concepts, preferably C++11/14/17 or later.
• Object-oriented programming, templates, STL, design patterns, memory management, and multithreading.
• Strong understanding of low-level programming and resource-constrained environments.
• RTOS
• Strong hands-on experience with at least one RTOS, such as:
• FreeRTOS
• Zephyr
• QNX
• VxWorks
• ThreadX
• Embedded Linux real-time environments
• Embedded Systems
• Strong understanding of microcontrollers/microprocessors and embedded architectures.
• Experience with hardware/software interfaces and peripheral drivers.
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, USB, or similar.
• Experience with bootloaders, device drivers, BSPs, firmware architecture, and hardware abstraction layers.
• Understanding of memory architecture, DMA, interrupts, caches, and low-level debugging.

Embedded Linux

• Strong understanding of Embedded Linux is preferred.
• Experience with Linux kernel, device drivers, BSP, boot process, cross-compilation, and build systems is an advantage.
• Experience with Yocto/Buildroot is desirable.

Architecture & Design

• Strong understanding of embedded software architecture and system design.
• Experience with modular, layered, component-based, and event-driven architectures.
• Knowledge of UML, architecture/design documentation, and design patterns.
• Ability to evaluate architectural trade-offs involving performance, memory, reliability, maintainability, and scalability.
• Experience designing systems involving multiple processors, communication interfaces, or distributed embedded components is preferred.
