E-commerce & Inventory Accountant

Job Overview

Our client is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented E-commerce & Inventory Accountant to support their finance team with day-to-day hands-on accounting and financial processes. This role is ideal for someone with deep technical experience in an inventory-based or retail e-commerce business. The successful candidate will be fully proficient in core accounting principles (debits/credits, double-entry bookkeeping) and confident in performing routine e-commerce sales reconciliations, inventory-related transactions, journal postings, and international invoicing.

Schedule

• Monday - Thursday, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM Sydney Time; Part-time, 20 work hours per week

Responsibilities

• Reconcile high-volume e-commerce sales, payment gateway settlements, and payouts through Shopify.
• Complete American Express (Amex) and multi-channel bank account reconciliations.
• Maintain, update, and process the Export Register accurately.
• Prepare, calculate, and post complex intercompany and general ledger journal entries.
• Receive stock, calculate inventory adjustments, and process end-to-end inventory transactions.
• Prepare and process accurate EU and Asia sales invoicing.
• Post UK manufacturer invoices and supplier entries in MYOB Advanced.
• Process PR journals and maintain supporting accounting schedules.
• Post repacks, stock movements, and land-cost adjustments in MYOB Advanced.
• Actualise financial forecasts for the Middle East (ME), Europe (EU), and Australia (AU).
• Maintain accurate, audit-ready financial records and ensure transactions are processed on time.
• Support the existing finance team with general accounting and ad-hoc reconciliation tasks as required.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in an accounting role within a retail, inventory-based, or e-commerce business.
• Proven practical mastery of core accounting principles, including debit/credit mechanics, journal entry preparation, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Solid experience handling Shopify e-commerce reconciliation (payouts, merchant fees, refunds, sales tax allocations).
• Direct experience with inventory accounting (stock movements, repacks, landed costs, COGS tracking).
• Hands-on proficiency with MYOB Advanced or a similar enterprise ERP system.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data manipulation, lookups, pivot tables).
• Strong command of written and verbal English with the ability to articulate accounting workflows clearly.
• Close attention to detail and a high degree of numerical accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
• Able to follow established processes and execute recurring financial tasks accurately without oversight.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• A technically sound accounting practitioner with genuine, hands-on experience in e-commerce and stock management.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized, with strong analytical skills to catch and reconcile discrepancies.
• Confident working directly with complex retail, inventory, and Shopify sales clearing accounts.
• Technically proficient with ERP software and Excel data processing.
• Reliable and consistent in executing routine financial tasks and monthly schedules.
• Comfortable receiving direction and collaborating closely with an existing Finance Assistant.
• Happy working in an execution-focused accounting capacity and not primarily seeking management or executive progression.

Training & Reporting

The successful candidate will report to the existing Finance Assistant and will receive full training and guidance on company-specific systems, processes, and accounting workflows.

The role is intended to provide ongoing finance execution support and is best suited to someone who enjoys structured, detail-oriented accounting work and is comfortable working within established processes.
