Job Introduction

The Database Engineer II plays a key role in supporting and optimizing Tekion’s database environments. This role develops, maintains, and scales database solutions that ensure performance, availability, and security. It involves cross-functional collaboration, hands-on development, and growing ownership of key database operations.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Designs and implements database solutions, including schema changes, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.
• Performs performance tuning, query optimization, and diagnostics to resolve system bottlenecks.
• Monitors and manages database health, backups, and failover procedures across environments.
• Automates recurring maintenance and data processing tasks using SQL and scripting tools.
• Collaborates with development, DevOps, and product teams to align database design with application needs.
• Participates in code reviews, documentation, and the enforcement of best practices.
• Supports incident response and root cause analysis for database-related issues.

Basic Qualifications

• 4–6 years of experience in database engineering or administration
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• Proficiency in SQL, scripting (e.g., Python, Bash), and data management tools
• Experience with database performance tuning, monitoring, and recovery strategies
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL platforms (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across engineering and infrastructure teams
