About the role

What's Ditto?

Ditto’s mission is to help people make well-informed insurance decisions - from expert advisory and policy purchases to dedicated claim support. We pioneered the industry-first “No-spam” policy, and over the past five years, we’ve assisted over 700,000 users with personalized advice on health and term insurance. We carry a 4.9 rating with 32,000+ reviews on Google.

Ditto is part of the Finshots family (500K+ subscribers) and is backed by Zerodha, India’s largest stockbroker. We won LinkedIn’s Top Startup award in both 2022 and 2023

About the Role

We’re looking for someone who is unusually good at finding things worth talking about, and then writing about them well. Not someone who needs a content brief for every post.

A lot of the best content at Ditto doesn’t start with a brainstorm. It starts with a conversation with someone from claims, something a customer said, an interesting number buried in a sheet, a strong opinion someone on the team has, or something happening on the internet that makes us think, wait, there’s a Ditto angle here.

Your job is to find those things.

You’ll spend a lot of time talking to people across Ditto, understanding how they think, asking better questions, doing your own research, and turning half-formed thoughts into sharp pieces of content.

A large part of the role will involve written social content, particularly LinkedIn and X. But we’re not looking for someone who just “writes posts”.

We want someone who can understand an idea, figure out what is actually interesting about it, develop a point of view and package it in a way people want to read.

Sometimes you’ll get a clear idea. Sometimes someone will give you three sentences and say, “There’s probably something here.” Sometimes you’ll have to find the story yourself.

That last one matters a lot.

What you'll do

  • Own pieces of content end-to-end, from finding the idea to research, writing, feedback, publishing and eventually understanding how it performed.
  • Speak to people across Ditto and pull interesting stories, opinions and observations out of conversations.
  • Write extensively for LinkedIn and X.
  • Take someone's rough thought, voice note or conversation and turn it into something that still sounds like them, not like generic internet content.
  • Research topics properly before writing about them. We like strong opinions, but they need something underneath them.
  • Build content around insurance, startups, business, customers, culture, work and whatever else our audience would genuinely find interesting.
  • Repurpose one strong idea intelligently across formats instead of copy-pasting the same post everywhere.
  • Work with designers and other members of the content team when an idea needs a visual, carousel or another format.
  • Maintain your own content pipeline rather than waiting every morning to be told what to work on.
  • Look at performance and gradually understand what works, what doesn't and why.
  • Experiment. Some things will work. Some will bomb. Both are useful.

You might be a good fit if

  • You can really write. This is the biggest one.
  • You're naturally curious and ask follow-up questions instead of accepting the first obvious answer.
  • You can tell when an idea has something interesting inside it, even if it hasn't been articulated properly yet.
  • You can write in different voices without making everyone sound like the same copywriter.
  • You read things outside your immediate job. Business, culture, creators, startups, Reddit rabbit holes, news, whatever.
  • You have opinions, but you're also willing to change them when the research says otherwise.
  • You're comfortable going to someone and saying, “You mentioned something interesting yesterday. Tell me more.”
  • You don't think posting consistently is the same thing as doing good content marketing.
  • You're comfortable taking ownership without having five approval layers around you.
  • You know how to use AI, but you don't depend on it to do the thinking for you.

What we'd love to see

We're less interested in whether you've had the exact same job title before.

Show us things you've written or built.

It could be

  • A LinkedIn or X account you've worked on
  • Your own writing
  • A newsletter
  • A brand account
  • Threads/posts that performed well
  • A side project
  • Even a few pieces you're disproportionately proud of

And if you've grown an account before, we'd love to understand how you thought about it, not just the follower number.

The goal is simple
