About the role

We are Progress (Nasdaq: PRGS) - a trusted provider of software that enables our customers to develop, deploy and manage responsible, AI powered applications and experiences with agility and ease.

We’re proud to have a diverse, global team where we value the individual and enrich our culture by considering varied perspectives because we believe people power progress. Join us as a Business Systems Project Manager and help us do what we do best: propelling business forward. Know more about us.

About the EPMO: The Enterprise Program Management Office is the cross-functional connective layer at Progress. Chartered to coordinate across business units, the EPMO governs the enterprise portfolio, drives strategic programs from approval through realized outcome, and holds the standards that keep execution consistent as the company grows and integrates new acquisitions. The team partners with leaders across the enterprise to drive strategic projects, M&A integrations, and value streams from plan to outcome, and it owns the standards for project management, business process engineering, and business systems analysis. The EPMO is intentionally neutral. It does not own a product line or a platform; it owns the discipline that connects the teams who do. That vantage point is what makes this role possible: sitting between the business functions that need capability and the technology teams that build it.

This is an exciting role! You will learn about our business through thoughtful analysis of our Go-to-Market business processes and systems, and you will run the planning and execution of strategic programs. As a trusted business partner to our stakeholders across the company, you will elicit and document what the business actually needs, map current and future-state processes, and translate that into requirements an engineering team can build against. As the Project Manager you own the plan, the governance, the risks, and the outcome from intake through adoption. The two halves are deliberately joined, because the person who understood the requirement is best placed to defend it through delivery.

The work spans enterprise business systems — GTM, Finance, HR, IT and operational platforms — and includes acquisition integration, where systems and standards vary across entities and the answer is rarely documented anywhere. The role interacts with all levels of the organization and partners broadly with leaders across the enterprise to deliver strategic outcomes. Functional relationships extend across business units and enabling functions including Sales Operations, GTM, IT, Finance, HR, Legal, Security, and Operations, as required by the initiatives assigned. Uncovering opportunities to improve and innovate will be core to this role.

In This Role You Will

  • Business analysis and requirements
  • Elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements from stakeholders across business units, and translate them into specifications that engineering and configuration teams can build against without repeated clarification.
  • Map current-state processes and design future-state flows, producing process diagrams that make the pain points and the proposed remediation legible to both business and technical audiences.
  • Identify business process improvement opportunities and work with subject matter experts on both sides to develop technology solutions of moderate to significant scope and complexity.
  • Evaluate the short- and long-term impact of proposed solutions across the organization, including downstream effects on people, process, data, and controls.
  • Perform system and data analysis to support integration, migration, and rationalization decisions, including data mapping between source and target systems.
  • Support user acceptance testing: define test scenarios against the original requirements, coordinate business testers, and track defects to resolution before go-live.
  • Project delivery and governance
  • Lead discovery activities including stakeholder interviews, workshops, process walkthroughs, requirements decomposition, and analysis of existing systems, integrations, and data flows.
  • Develop and own comprehensive project plans covering all phases from discovery and requirements through design, build, implementation, change management, and benefits realization.
  • Manage risks, issues, decisions, and change control, anticipating downstream impacts and driving mitigations rather than logging them.
  • Plan and lead working sessions and governance forums; assign actions, track commitments, remove blockers, and drive decisions to a timely close.
  • Build Lean Business Cases that quantify value, cost, risk, and return, and support prioritization and funding conversations with evidence rather than advocacy.
  • Prepare executive-ready status reporting for all levels of the organization, covering progress, risks, decisions required, budget, and realized benefits.
  • Create and maintain core project documentation — charters, plans, RAIDD logs, communications, training materials, and go-live readiness assessments.
  • Review proposed changes with Internal Audit ahead of implementation, and incorporate privacy, security, and compliance reviews in partnership with Legal, Security, and Audit.
  • Partnership, adoption, and acquisition integration
  • Act as the voice of the business user throughout delivery, holding solutions accountable to adoptability rather than to technical completion.
  • Support acquisition integration work: document how an acquired company's systems and processes operate today, map that into the Progress environment, and identify ownership gaps and Day 1 readiness risks.
  • Build and maintain relationships across business units and enabling functions so that requirements surface early and dependencies are known before they become escalations.
  • Contribute to the EPMO's delivery standards, templates, and continuous-improvement practices, strengthening the discipline rather than only consuming it.
  • First 90 Days
  • Days 1–30. Onboard to the enterprise systems landscape and the EPMO's delivery standards, meet the business and technology stakeholders for your assigned portfolio, and understand the in-flight initiative set. Deliverable: a stakeholder and system map for your area, with an initial read on documentation gaps.
  • Days 31–60. Take ownership of at least one in-flight initiative and one new intake, running requirements through to an approved specification. Deliverable: a project plan and Lean Business Case that clear governance review.
  • Days 61–90. Deliver a milestone on your assigned initiative and establish your reporting rhythm with sponsors. Deliverable: executive status reporting in steady state, a maintained RAIDD log, and a documented process improvement adopted by the business.
  • Your Background
  • This role offers flexibility in working hours; however, a key requirement is availability during 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. EST to support collaboration with business and technology stakeholders across the organization. Outside of these core hours, employees may manage their schedules flexibly in alignment with team and business needs.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management information systems, computer science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3-5+ years combining business systems analysis and project management on enterprise technology initiatives, with demonstrated ownership of both the requirements and the delivery plan on the same work.
  • Proven experience eliciting requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translating them into specifications that engineering teams build from successfully.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major CRM or ERP enterprise platform - Salesforce, NetSuite, or comparable.
  • Demonstrated ability to run cross-functional projects to completion without direct authority over the contributing teams.
  • Working knowledge of both traditional project management and Agile delivery, and the judgment to flex between them as the initiative requires.
  • Strong process documentation and diagramming skills, and comfort producing artifacts that hold up under audit and compliance review.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including executive-level status reporting that states what changed, what is at risk, and what decision is needed.
  • High ownership and follow-through, with the discipline to chase a commitment to closure rather than reporting it as open.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting M&A integration, systems rationalization, or post-acquisition migration in a multi-entity environment.
  • Familiarity with quote-to-cash or lead-to-cash process architecture across CRM, CPQ, and ERP - across Salesforce, CPQ (Salesforce CPQ or comparable), and NetSuite or an equivalent ERP.
  • Data analysis and data integration experience
  • Experience with Jira, Asana, or comparable work management tooling, and with building reporting on top of it.
  • Conceptual understanding of application architecture, integration patterns, and cloud services.
  • One or more of: PMP, PMI-PBA, PMI-ACP, CBAP, SAFe certification, or Lean Six Sigma.
  • Prior work within a PMO, Center of Excellence, or enterprise governance function.
  • Success Measures
  • At six months, you own a defined portfolio of initiatives with current plans, active RAIDD logs, and sponsors who know where each stands without asking. Requirements you author move to build without rework cycles caused by ambiguity. At twelve months, your initiatives deliver on committed scope and schedule, benefits are tracked against the business cases that justified them, and at least one process you documented has been adopted as a standard beyond your own projects.
  • Attributes We Are Looking For
  • You are equally credible in a requirements workshop and a steering committee. You thrive in ambiguity, uncovering requirements that are undocumented, poorly understood, or distributed across multiple teams, systems, and acquisitions. You enjoy bringing structure, clarity, and alignment where none previously existed. You can distinguish a request from a requirement, challenge assumptions constructively, and guide stakeholders toward the right outcome. You would rather surface a risk early and be wrong than late and be right. You are energized by walking into an undocumented process and leaving it understood, documented and improved.
