Back End Developer

About the role

We're hiring backend engineers to build the core services and platform infrastructure that our AI agent and user-facing products depend on to take real financial action. Standard human-driven flows are only half the story, the real engineering challenge begins when an autonomous agent relies on these backends to execute over hours or days, handle retries, inspect live state, and recover when external bank systems stall. You'll own both building clean fintech services for our core apps and solving the platform problems that emerge when an AI is a primary consumer of your systems.

Key responsibilities

• Build core services in Java and/or Python powering live financial workflows, user state, and money-moving actions at scale
• Architect resilient multi-step state for long-running workflows, enabling partial recovery and step-level fixes
• Abstract external unpredictability by wrapping third-party integrations (banks, lenders, credit bureaus) behind uniform domain APIs
• Ensure safety under non-linear execution, strict state and transactional correctness under retries, races, and non-standard call sequences
• Design rich, intent-aware APIs with clear execution status and machine-readable context for AI agents and frontend clients
• Design clean domain boundaries and reusable backend modules to scale across financial verticals

Required qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience building backend services in Java, Python, or a similar production language
• Hands-on experience with Java (Spring Boot) or Python (FastAPI / Django) for RESTful web services
• Working experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL), including schema design, indexing, and transactional boundaries
• Strong ability to model clean domain boundaries and write clear API contracts
• Experience reasoning about multi-step workflows, message queues, asynchronous execution, retries, and failure recovery in distributed systems
• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to turn evolving requirements into simple, durable designs
