About the role
About the company
We design premium dog gear built for adventure, starting with the best-selling dog seat covers on Amazon. We're a fast-growing, mission-driven brand dedicated to helping dogs and their humans get outside more often. Our products combine durability, protection, and thoughtful design to make every ride and every trip better for your best friend. As we scale, we're investing in the tools and systems that let a lean team operate efficiently at a rapidly growing size.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for an Automation & Internal Tools Engineer to own our internal tools, dashboards, and automations on a retainer basis. Today, our founder is building and maintaining these personally; this role exists to take that over, improve it, and proactively find new ways technology can save the team time. You'll work directly with every department to understand their workflows and build solutions, without needing to be told exactly what to build. This is a hands-on, builder role; you should be comfortable using AI-assisted tools and automation platforms to move quickly, rather than architecting large-scale custom software from the ground up.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and improve existing internal tools and dashboards
- Partner with each department (marketing, social, product, ops) to understand workflows and identify automation opportunities
- Build new tools, dashboards, and data connections using APIs, automation platforms (e.g. Make, n8n, Zapier), and AI where useful
- Explore AI-driven solutions for customer service (e.g. Gorgias AI agents) to reduce the need for headcount growth in support
- Respond quickly to tool issues; when something breaks, it needs to get fixed same-day per agreed SLA terms
- Work independently across departments, proactively identifying inefficiencies rather than waiting for direction
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong background in automation, data connections/APIs, and dashboard/BI tools
- Comfortable working with AI-assisted development and integration tools (Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, MCP-style connections, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Python and/or SQL for troubleshooting and lightweight custom builds
- Self-directed; able to identify problems and build solutions without heavy oversight
- Fast, responsive, and reliable; able to commit dedicated, predictable hours to us
- Experience working cross-functionally with non-technical teams
- Bonus: experience with customer service AI tooling (e.g. Gorgias), ERP/dashboard builds, or e-commerce/DTC environments
