About the position

The Faculty of Management at CEPT University is a highly specialized management school in India, and among a small number of comparable institutions in South Asia focused on the management of the built environment. The Faculty of Management offers postgraduate programs in Urban Management and Real Estate Management. The faculty trains professionals at the intersection of managerial rigour and domain knowledge of cities, infrastructure, land, and real estate. Its academic focus responds to the growing demand for managers capable of addressing complex urban and real estate challenges through informed decision-making, institutional design, and effective execution across public, private, and development sectors. CEPT University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (Full-time or Adjunct) in Urban and Real Estate Management at the Faculty of Management, for candidates engaged in practice or with other concurrent professional commitments. CEPT particularly seeks candidates who can contribute to teaching and research in Urban and Real Estate Finance, with the ability to connect financial and managerial perspectives with real estate development processes and the management of the built environment. CEPT University encourages and enables the professional growth of individuals and practicing professionals keen to seriously engage in consulting engagements, with CRDF as part of CEPT and/or outside CEPT, along with teaching and research at CEPT. The indicative areas of specialization include, but are not limited to:

  • Urban and Real Estate Sector Finance, Project Finance and Risk Management
  • Urban Data Analytics and Visualization
  • Real Estate Project Development

Roles and Responsibilities

  • All faculty members at CEPT University will be engaged in a combination of Teaching, Research, and Institutional work.
  • To make a distinguished contribution to teaching, continually improving academic standards and adopting cutting-edge curricula and pedagogic practices.
  • To contribute to teaching and studio-based learning in areas such as real estate finance, valuation, financial feasibility, investment analysis, project formulation, development management and project management.
  • To provide leadership in curriculum development through continuous improvement and innovate in the design, articulation and delivery of courses
  • To develop and deliver courses that integrate financial, managerial, spatial and developmental aspects of urban and real estate projects.
  • To guide students in studios, live projects, research projects and other forms of experiential learning.
  • To contribute to applied and academic research in areas related to urban finance, real estate finance, valuation, development, investment, land and property markets and project management.
  • To engage with industry, developers, financial institutions, consultants, government agencies and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen practice-oriented teaching and research.
  • To contribute to the collegial environment at the University and to further its mission in the pursuit of excellence.
  • To advance student learning and student success based on outcomes outlined in the curricula.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

[A] Minimum Experience and Qualification required for Assistant Professor (Full Time or Adjunct) position

A Master’s degree/Post Graduation in Architecture / Planning / Engineering / Business Administration / Finance / Marketing / International Finance /Law with minimum 5 years of total experience in professional practice, teaching and research, or a combination thereof

OR

A Doctoral Degree in Management / Public Policy / Planning / Economics / a relevant discipline (Candidates in the final stage of their PhD may also apply)

[B] Minimum Experience and Qualification required for Associate Professor (Full Time or Adjunct) position

A Master’s degree/Post Graduation in Architecture / Planning / Engineering / Business Administration / Finance / Marketing / International Finance /Law with minimum 10 years of total experience in professional practice, teaching and research, or a combination thereof, of which 5 years of teaching experience. OR

A Doctoral Degree in Management / Public Policy / Planning / Economics / a relevant discipline (Candidates in the final stage of their PhD may also apply) with minimum 5 years of total experience in professional practice, teaching and research, or a combination thereof.

Expertise Required

The candidate should have

  • A relevant academic and professional background, domain knowledge, and demonstrated core competency in urban and real estate finance, real estate valuation, development or related areas.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in real estate valuation, financial feasibility, investment analysis, financial modelling and project structuring.
  • An understanding of the real estate development lifecycle, including market and land assessment, project formulation, planning, financing, development, implementation and asset management.
  • Knowledge and/or professional experience in project management and development management will be an advantage.
  • Excellent teaching and research skills, and an ability to integrate new methods of teaching and mentoring with an on-going pedagogy.
  • Strong analytical and communication (visual and written) skills.
  • Appropriate technical, analytical and software knowledge in the context of the area of specialization.
  • A commitment to research and an ability to develop applied and interdisciplinary research.
  • A critical understanding of the scope and breadth of the profession.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate professional best practices and real-world cases into teaching.
  • Should be fluent in English.
