Android Automotive Audio Engineer - Car Audio Service & Audio HAL

We are looking for an experienced Android Automotive Audio Engineer with strong expertise in AAOS Audio Framework, CarAudioService, Audio HAL, AudioFlinger, AudioPolicyManager, and Embedded Linux. The role involves designing, developing, customizing, integrating, and debugging audio software for Android Automotive OS (AAOS), infotainment, cockpit, and in-vehicle audio systems. The candidate will work across the Android audio stack, including framework, services, HAL, middleware, and system-level components, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-performance automotive audio solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, customize, and integrate Android Automotive Audio Framework components for IVI systems.
• Develop and customize CarAudioService and automotive audio services.
• Implement and configure audio zones, volume groups, audio contexts, audio routing, and audio focus management.
• Develop and integrate Audio HAL and Audio Control HAL using AIDL/HIDL.
• Work on AudioFlinger, AudioPolicyService, and AudioPolicyManager customization and debugging.
• Configure and optimize Audio Policy Configuration XML and the Configurable Audio Policy Engine.
• Implement audio routing across multiple sources, devices, zones, and output paths.
• Develop and support multi-zone and multi-user audio use cases.

Audio Implementation & Optimization

• Media Playback, Bluetooth Audio (A2DP/HFP), USB Audio, FM/AM Radio, Navigation Prompts, Voice Assistant, Audio Mixing, Audio Ducking, Audio Focus, and Call Audio.
• Integrate DSPs, external amplifiers, codecs, microphones, speakers, and other audio peripherals.
• Work with ALSA/TinyALSA and embedded Linux audio drivers.
• Analyze and resolve audio latency, synchronization, distortion, glitches, routing, and audio-quality issues.
• Debug audio issues using Logcat, dumpsys, Perfetto, Systrace, TinyALSA utilities, kernel logs, and other debugging tools.
• Perform root-cause analysis of audio issues reported during development, validation, and production.
• Collaborate closely with BSP, Kernel, Middleware, HMI, Bluetooth, Vehicle HAL, System, and Validation teams.

What We Are Looking For

• 5+ years of relevant experience in Android, embedded systems, or automotive infotainment.
• Strong hands-on experience in AAOS Audio Framework, CarAudioService, and Audio HAL.
• Experience with Qualcomm, MediaTek, NXP, Renesas, or similar automotive platforms.
• Strong understanding of Android Automotive architecture and AOSP source code.
• Knowledge of C/C++ and Java/Kotlin.
• Exposure to automotive communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, or SOME/IP is an advantage.
