About the role

Forge & Wield | AI Solutions Studio

Remote — India

  • Full-time
  • 3 months
  • Unpaid
  • Immediate joining
  • Openings: 2

We’re looking for early-career engineers who want to move beyond experimenting with AI and start building systems that are actually meant to ship.

At Forge & Wield, you’ll work across applied AI, automation and production engineering — taking ideas from prototype to real-world systems that need to be reliable, maintainable and useful.

  • You are not expected to know the entire stack before joining.
  • What matters more is strong fundamentals, curiosity, high agency, and the ability to figure things out when the path is not obvious.
  • What you’ll do
  • Build LLM-powered applications and AI features
  • Develop RAG pipelines across retrieval, embeddings and reranking
  • Build agentic workflows with tool calling and orchestration
  • Create workflow automations and third-party integrations
  • Work with APIs, databases, vector stores and production backends
  • Design prompts and structured-output workflows
  • Build evaluation pipelines and test system reliability
  • Containerise applications and work with Docker and CI/CD
  • Deploy and monitor AI systems in production
  • Debug failures across model, backend and infrastructure layers
  • Take features from prototype → production → iteration
  • You won’t be working on isolated exercises. The focus is on building things that have to survive outside the notebook.
  • What you’ll learn
  • You’ll develop a practical understanding of what happens after the demo works.

That includes

  • Production RAG architecture
  • Agentic system design
  • AI evaluations and regression testing
  • Model selection and routing
  • Quality, latency and cost trade-offs
  • Vector databases and caching
  • Docker and CI/CD
  • Cloud deployment
  • Observability and monitoring
  • AI system design
  • Reliability and failure analysis

The aim is to understand how an AI prototype becomes a system people can actually depend on.

What we expect

  • Comfortable with Python
  • Basic SQL
  • Working knowledge of Git & GitHub
  • Understanding of APIs, JSON and client-server communication
  • Basic familiarity with LLMs / Generative AI
  • Basic prompt-engineering knowledge
  • Ability to read documentation and debug independently
  • A genuine willingness to learn quickly and own your work

You do not need to tick every box in the modern AI stack.

We care more about signal than credentials — how you think, how you learn and whether you can take a problem forward without needing every step predefined.

How we work

We use AI-assisted development extensively.

Use the tools. Move fast. Automate the repetitive parts.

But do not outsource your understanding.

If you ship something, you should understand how it works, be able to explain the decisions behind it and know how to investigate it when it fails.

We value speed with judgment, not speed for its own sake.

The code may be written at the speed of light. Ownership cannot be outsourced.

What you get

  • Internship Completion Certificate
  • Experience Letter upon successful completion
  • Recommendation for strong performers
  • Direct engineering feedback and code reviews
  • Real product ownership
  • Exposure to modern AI engineering and production infrastructure
  • Portfolio-worthy shipped work, wherever confidentiality permits

Who this is for

This role is for someone early in their engineering career who has a builder mindset and wants to get closer to how modern AI products are actually built.

Someone who prefers

building over watching, shipping over collecting certificates, and understanding systems over memorising tools.

You do not need years of experience.

You do need curiosity, consistency, technical ownership and the willingness to go deep when the problem demands it.

This is an unpaid, full-time, 3-month remote internship with immediate joining.
